The Fish Tank project is a rolling project and has already been working for 12 months. Each chosen illustration will run for a set period of time between 4–8 weeks (we’ll try to align this with the calendar year but, yes, we know about the academic year too).

You will have a maximum of one week to install your illustration and reasonable expenses will be paid (this will be judged individually for each installation).

Each proposal should contain a visualisation of the space and how you see your illustration working with it. Please also attach a short, written synopsis of the proposal and details of how you would produce it (also, if possible send us an mp3 of the track its based on—to say that Music is our name doesn’t mean we know eveything about it). Please feel free to include samples of previous work if you feel this would support your submission.

All submissions should be in a PDF format no bigger than 5mb and emailed to nemo@thefishtank.org.uk and basically, just tell us why it’s a great idea.

If there’s any further information you need regarding the project, or if you and a bunch of other students want to arrange a visit to see the space just get in touch.

They have a room in their studio called the Fish Tank, the project has been running for 12 months already, the brief is to design a illustration based on a song and the winning entry goes onto the glass of the fish tank.

For my MA brief which I am basing on Secret 7' I am looking at a different song each week and designing an sleeve for it, this brief fits in with this brief but taking it onto a larger scale. I think for my next illustration I am going to use this brief as a starting point, I think I am going to base it on the song Applesauce by Animal Collective.

The deadline is Feb 22nd.
